Financial services provider, FBC Holdings, Monday launched a digital third party insurance product, Yako, which allows customers to purchase the product using mobile devices as part of the group’s digital transformation and innovation drive.

FBC group acting head of marketing, Roy Nyakunuwa, said: “…This is a breakthrough product in our market which brings convenience, security, and comfort to the motoring public, allowing them to purchase third party motor insurance instantly using the mobile wallets of all the mobile network operator channels (that is, Telecash, One Money and EcoCash) as well as the ZIPIT platform.”

With digitisation, there is no need for the customers to physically visit a branch to submit identity documents to insure their vehicle, but can do this in the comfort of their homes or offices, using mobile phones, he said.

Nyakunuwa indicated that customers should have a minimum value of ZWL$ 10,000 third party liability, the insurance cover takes a period of 4 months and it can also be purchased for the whole year.
