Ex-TIMB boss Matibiri arrested

BUSINESS REPORTER

Former Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) CEO Andrew Matibiri has been arrested on corruption charges, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) said yesterday.

Matibiri was arrested yesterday and will appear in court today, ZACC spokesperson John Makamure said.

“I can confirm that he has been arrested. He is facing charges of allegedly diverting inputs meant for small scale tobacco growers to undeserving tobacco growers,” he said.

Matibiri retired as TIMB chief executive officer last year after 15 years at the helm. He landed the post of CEO of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society.
