President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday officiated the swearing-in of new commissioners to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and the Defence Forces Service Commission at State House, marking a significant moment of institutional renewal.
Kindness Paradza, Shelton Dube, Chido Madiwa, Zalerah Hazvineyi Makari, Obson Matunja, Betty Wenjere, Patrick Tendai Mukorera, and Meme Rumbidzayi Zvimba were appointed as ZACC commissioners. Meanwhile, Charles Cleopas Murongazvombo, Mavis Gonde, Okay Mabhena, Peddie Mugoba, Patricia Sarah Bwerinofa, and Chipo Sheila Rose Mahere joined the Defence Forces Service Commission.
The appointments follow the expiration of terms for the outgoing commissioners and represent a crucial juncture for ZACC’s future direction. The new lineup comprises a diverse mix of legal, political, and civic leaders, highlighting the weight placed on the commission’s mandate to tackle corruption.
Former legislators such as Kindness Paradza and Zalerah Makari bring considerable political experience to ZACC, while the legal field is represented by figures such as Meme Zvimba. The composition reflects a deliberate effort to bring together a mosaic of expertise aimed at strengthening institutional effectiveness.
Analysts view the swearing-in not merely as a procedural step but as a strategic moment in shaping the trajectory of bodies tasked with safeguarding national integrity and upholding accountability.
