ED scoffs at Chamisa nomination court chaos

President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday scoffed at Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) for being in disarray leading to the party failing to field 12 candidates at the Nomination Court that sat in June after filing after the set 4pm deadline.
He was addressing thousands of party supporters in Cowdray Park constituency where Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube was gifted the seat following the CCC candidate’s disqualification.
Mnangagwa said the ruling party was now poised for a resounding victory in the forthcoming elections adding that there was no room for a failing opposition especially in urban local authorities.
“So we are masters of our destination. No one can claim this crown of leadership but Zanu PF,” he said.
“Zanu PF is an organised political party. It keeps time when there is a nomination court we know when the court opens and closes,” he said in apparent dig at Chamisa whose candidates in the province failed to submit their nomination papers on time.
“I say to those who are unable to read programmes and times they should go back and claim their school fees. Zanu PF is uncontested in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo central and Bulawayo South constituencies not because we stopped anybody but because they stopped themselves,” Mnangagwa said.
He said Zanu PF was also uncontested in the provincial councils.
Last week, Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Nokuthula Moyo acting on behalf of Justice Bongani Ndlovu ruled that the 12 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and three independent parliamentary candidates in the upcoming harmonised should not take part in the polls as they filed nomination papers after the stipulated time.
The decision means Professor Mthuli Ncube and Tendai Charuka of Zanu PF have been duly elected Members of Parliament as there were only two contestants in Cowdray Park and Bulawayo Central.
He said the failure by opposition run councils to provide basic services was indication that their time was up.
“We will win tremendously. The opposition has failed across the country.
They are a shame. Shame on you, the opposition party. Zanu PF’s signature is that we deliver. We deliver and deliver the opposition talks in the morning, talks in the afternoon and talks at night. Zanu PF is about action and we deliver.
