TENDAI BHEBE IN BULAWAYO

Zimbabwe’s largest brewer, Delta Corporation, is optimistic  about the future  of lager beers despite  negative impacts of the economic crisis and the covid-19 pandemic, Business Times can report.

Delta’s lagers general manager, Tichaona Rinomhota, who spoke at the launch of the Sable lager in Bulawayo last week, said the company has over the years been focusing on the development and growth of its brands.

Delta’s  brands include Sables, Castle, Lion, Black Label, Pilsner, Bohlingers, Castle Lite and Zambezi. It also manufactures and packages carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks.

“Over the past years our focus has been on the development and on the growth of brands. The business remains optimistic about the future of clear beer in Zimbabwe despite the current economic challenges and disruptions of Covid-19,” Rinomhota said.

He said the economic crisis and Covid-19 resulted in the supply challenges in the first five months of the year (2021).

“Supply, however, has increased considerably ever since we started receiving glass from central and northern parts of Africa. We will continue to invest  in more new brands and packs for our new consumers and new products and the expansion of our existing pack offerings to traders and consumers,” Rinomhota said.

Delta lagers  marketing manager, Kundayi Mawema, who also spoke at the launch in Bulawayo, said: “We seized this opportunity, and through research and validation, we ensured that it would be lucrative for the business and our traders and definitely worth pursuing.”
