Troubled meat processor, Cold Storage Company (CSC) is set to reopen its Bulawayo plant in the third quarter of this year, Business Times can report.

Reginald Shoko,an official at Boustead Beef Zimbabwe, which partnered government to revive CSC confirmed the development during a tour of the facilities in Bulawayo.

CSC recently took delivery of the first batch of equipment imported from the United Kingdom  to refurbish the Bulawayo plant.

“The re-opening of the plant is expected in the third quarter of this year and the delays have been necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic which has been affecting logistics,” Shoko said.

The progress to revive CSC by the United Kingdom investor, Boustead Beef, faced severe resistance from the company’s former employees who had continued to maintain a grip on the State entity’ assets.

However, CSC Dubane cattle ranch has since been refurbished and is now carrying a herd of over 4000 cattle.

Some parts of the Maphaneni Ranch in Kezi have  also been refurbished.
