The sixth CEO Africa Roundtable kicked off today in the resort town of Victoria Falls, with more than 300 company executives drawn from across Africa converging to deliberate on the role the private sector could play in growing their economies.

The event runs from today to Friday under the theme: “From talk to unified action towards a more responsible and inclusive national economy”.

Giving his opening remarks at the event, CEO Africa Roundtable chairman, Oswell Binha, said the event is happening at a time when Zimbabwe’s economy continues to “exhibit negative signs as the government fails to contain the effects of extended years of over expenditure”.

He added that much was needed to propagate sound policies and ensure sustainable balance gin economics and politics. The event, he highlighted that is expected to provide the necessary stimulus towards resolving the economic gridlock.

“The sixth edition of CEO Africa Round Table comes at a time where Zimbabwe is in a relentless search of solutions to end decades of economic stagnation, poverty and underdevelopment,”Binha said.

“The developments over the month of January 2019 are a testimony to a rocky economic environment and there is a legitimate expectation among our members to engage and be part of the solution to our national challenges.

“We are meeting at a dynamic for our greater nation of Zimbabwe and therefore is a real sense of despair in the country and I believe this gathering will become part of a solution to revive the country from the mayhem it is in,” he added.
