Business Times Acting Online Editor, Phillimon Mhlanga, this week scooped the Insurance and Pensions Journalist of the Month (August/September) Award in the print category, underlining the publication’s status as a force to reckon with since it hit the streets more than two years ago.

Mhlanga’s articles on various developments in the insurance and pensions sector were rated highly among more than 50 entries from journalists from different media houses across the country who participated in the contest.

Tawanda Musarurwa of the Sunday Mail was the runner-up in the print category.

The awards are organised by the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) and the National Security and Social Authority (NSSA) and recognises journalists who show exceptional grasp and interrogation of the insurance sector every month.

“I am extremely honoured to be receiving such an important award and thank IPEC and NSSA for recognising my work in insurance and pensions’ reporting. I am also grateful to the AB Communications family and editors for the support they offered me. I owe them a debt of gratitude,” Mhlanga said.

Business Times Editor Benard Mpofu said: “We are delighted as Business Times when one of our own gets such recognition. We strongly believe that this award underlines Business Times status as a force to reckon with since the paper hits the streets two years ago.”

A unit of AB Communications, Business Times has established itself in the market since it was launched with incisive stories.
