TelOne says its fixed internet service, Blaze LTE, will support the company’s revenue streams by offering the service to many parts of the country at affordable prices.

The service was launched yesterday in Chitungwiza.

Speaking at the launch,  TelOne board chair Douglas Zimbango said digital transformation underpins the company’s strategy to enhance the experience of the  clients and  grow the company’s bottom-line.

“With the demand for faster speeds and improved quality of service, we have had to be creative in terms of how to raise capital as this has for long been a pain point for the business.

“It is therefore with pride that we celebrate today’s milestone having managed to deploy this US$ 1.2m project through self-funding,” Zimbango said.

He said the project will increase network coverage for the area by 100% through the deployed 10 base stations.

“With LTE comes a lot of opportunities- it allows for improved browsing and online experience, better performance of multimedia apps, enhanced voice and HD video calls and compatible with existing telecoms infrastructure. Without a doubt LTE will improve productivity and help drive economic opportunities in Chitungwiza,” Zimbango said.

TelOne managing director Chipo Mtasa said the technology is user-friendly and allows the client to connect up to 10 devices on an LTE MiFi modem and up to 32 devices on an indoor modem.

“While clients will be spending less money on accessing the LTE lines and data packages they will be able to experience fast and reliable broadband.

This is a service that is geolocked hence sim cards for Chitungwiza can only work here in Chitungwiza. This will help us to be sure that the service is efficient.”

ICT, Postal and Courier Services minister Jenfan Muswere said the technology spoke directly into the National Development Strategy 1.

“The commissioning of the LTE wireless solution by TelOne today compliments our overall digital transformation drive and I am pleased that through the shared 10 base stations, TelOne will provide 100% coverage and faster network to more than six thousand households here in Chitungwiza,” Muswere said.
