Brick maker, Beta Bricks, says it is more confident about meeting increasing demand following the commissioning of a new Steele 50H plant at its Mt Hampden factory.

Huge demand for bricks has been partly driven by increased construction activity across the country.

Government, which is one of Beta Bricks’ biggest clients, has been undertaking several projects across the country.

The Mt Hampden factory manager, Nativity Mabasa, said the plant will add 50m annually.

“This is the ultimate solution to the production challenges we were facing because it will add 50m bricks annually,” Mabasa said.

The new plant adds to the Steele 75, which produces 68m bricks a year and the Steele 50f, produce 57m bricks annually.

Beta Bricks will also commission  a new  US$10m Melfort factory, located about 40km  east of the capital Harare by November 2022 and the Mutare plant in August 2022.

The Melfort plant is projected to produce 180m bricks per annum.
