This week, our attention is on the upcoming Organization Development Conference, which will be held for the first time in Zimbabwe.

The UpLift OD Conference, which will focus on Zimbabwe’s reawakening as a phoenix is scheduled for October 19 to 21 in the capital Harare.

Professor Paul Mavima, the Minister of Skills Audit & Development, will be the conference’s guest of honour.

The entire world is in the throes of reinvention. Pandemics, climate change, economic instability, and mental health crises have rattled the globe.

These crises have heightened the need for transformative change and sparked the spirit of resilience in Zimbabwe, Southern Africa, and our entire continent.

It’s time for a new dawn. National, regional, and global luminaries will gather in Harare guided by the principles of rewiring the leadership mindset and navigating human and planetary-centered design for individual, organizational, and societal transformation.

The UpLift OD Conference is co-hosted by the Centre for Organization Leadership & Development and powered by the passion of the Vuka Collective.

Through this conference, practitioners endeavor to define and sculpt Zimbabwe’s leadership role on regional, continental, and global landscapes — a journey marked by crafting the future together.

The conference theme aims to co-craft a dynamic future for Zimbabwe, a future characterized by inclusive growth, resilient health systems, and sustainable solutions.

The mission is to cultivate spaces that embrace the richness of diverse perspectives and emotions, nurturing the capacity to confront intricate social, environmental, and economic challenges.

By reframing leadership paradigms, OLDN Conference catalyze positive social, environmental, and economic impact, stepping boldly into discomfort and uncertainty for the greater good.

The Uplift Conference, spanning three transformative days, invites thought-leaders, change makers, policymakers, and those driven by a passion for shaping the future of Zimbabwe, Southern Africa, Africa as a whole, and the global arena.

This gathering shall witness the convergence of renowned experts in change and transformation, embarking on a voyage of discovery and innovation.

Chaired by Paul Nyausaru, the Uplift OD Conference represents a bridge between conventional business models and an era of enriched social and environmental outcomes. In addition to Professor Mavima, who will be the honoree, eminent speakers Mercedes E. Martin, Dr. Christine Mushibwe, Dr. Preethi Keerthi Dsouza, Dr. Vuyiwe Tsako, and Nonhlanhla Dlamini are anticipated to deliver keynote addresses in Harare.

Local speakers at the conference will include Lucy Marowa, Dr. Phillimon Chitagu, Givas Goteka, Musa Gumede, Hillary Dzavanhu, Tonderai Nyakujwa, Dr. Avilla Goba, Rose Nhamo and Tsitsi Loice Maradze.

Attracting over 10 countries, the Conference will also have a virtual format which will be led by distinguished Asia Organization Development Network (AODN) members.

Participants will also experience the Appreciative Inquiry Jam Movie Night as led by the Cooperrider Center for Appreciative Inquiry.

This will connect participants to people who are using strength-based approach to achieve meaningful outcomes in today’s world.
