The stage is set for the Great Zimbabwe  bike rally  taking place in the city of Masvingo on Saturday.

The event organised by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and Titanium MC has attracted bikers from South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Zambia among other countries in the region.

The bike mass ride around Masvingo, is expected to touch on various suburbs to give fans some entertainment.

This will be followed by a visit to Alpha Cottages for some donations as part of Titanium MC social responsibility activities.

There will also be a street party on Shuvai Mahofa Street. The party will later move to the main venue at Flamboyant Hotel where bikers and fans will be treated to music by Judgement Yard.

“As the ZTA, we are excited to be taking the Bikers Rally to Masvingo, our mandate is to increase room occupancy and increase tourism receipts by bringing people to all our tourism destinations, and at the same time creating fun and entertainment for the people.

“Having recently won the PATWA Award for ‘The Destination with Natural Beauty’, we need to share this with the world and what a better way to do it than to invite various source markets to MeetInZim and host their sporting events, meetings, conferences, events and exhibitions in Zimbabwe,’’ ZTA Head Corporate Affairs Godfrey Koti said.

Titanium MC president, Terrence Kwaramba weighed in saying: “We are happy to be back in Masvingo for the GZ7 Rally”.

“We working with the Masvingo City Council and ZRP to ensure everything is above board. As law abiding citizens, we always want to do things in an orderly and disciplined manner.

“The bikers rally is non-political; we are non-aligned.

“It is a purely international civilian function, and we do not expect any political overtones, nor any political people to come and interfere with our activities.

“We urge all bike enthusiasts, fans and residents of Masvingo to come out and meet the bikers, as they ride around, and also to enjoy the activities at the street party.’’
