All Set for IPRCZ Women Awards

The Institute of Public Relations and Communication Zimbabwe (IPRCZ) will tomorrow hold an awards ceremony to celebrate women that have excelled in public relations and communication fields.

The Women in PR and Communication Awards will come after a conference to be held earlier in the day. Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services minister, Monica Mutsvangwa as the guest of honour at the awards ceremony.

Bridget Mawoko, Director of Training for the IPRCZ said that the aim of the event was to examine the role of women across the communication sector.

“Women in PR and Communication continue to make incredible strides in having their voices heard and their ideas implemented.”

The public relations sector previously in Zimbabwe had been either been side-lined or male dominated but with the insurgence of gender diversity the sector has begun to show its significance with women at the helm.

She said: “The awards will honour the most inspirational Women in PR and Communication in Zimbabwe.”

The awards will acknowledge the innovation, ceiling-breaking, game changing women dominating the communications industry. It will award women in the categories of change makers: those who have steered their companies into new markets, entrepreneurs: women who have launched or rebuilt brands, industry innovators: women who have had an exceptional impact on the direction of their industry, bridge builders: women who attempt to connect or reconcile opposing parties, community givers, crisis navigators, the women in the communication hall of fame, mentors, rising stars, and resilience: women with great strength with the ability to withstand adversity.

“Those invited are so excited to be part of this initiative and the nominees are proud to be recognised as the most inspirational women in PR and Communication in Zimbabwe,” Mawoko told Business Times.
