The Premier Soccer League clubs are expected to go into the hat today  for the draw of the 2024 Chibuku Super Cup.

Every one of the 18 clubs in the top tier league competes in the Chibuku Super Cup.

According to tradition, the bottom four teams—TelOne, Chegutu Pirates, Hwange, and Arenel Movers—will face off in the preliminary round, with the winners joining the top teams in the round of 16. The top 14 teams as of Week 21 automatically qualify for the first-round draw.

Since the top eight teams are typically seeded for the first round, FC Platinum, Manica Diamonds, Simba Bhora, and Ngezi Platinum Stars are unlikely to face each other.

Dynamos are the defending champions after overcoming Ngezi Platinum Stars 2-0 in 2023 but are going through a period of gradual decline which is threatening their defence.

Harare City, now playing in the Northern Region Division One are the most successful team in the history of the competition after successes in 2015 and 2017 and were runners up in 2014 and 2018.

FC Platinum also won the title twice in 2014 and 2021 but reached the final only once in 2016.

There have been surprise winners in the form of Triangle in 2018 and Bulawayo Chiefs in 2022.

Other winners of the 10-year-old contest include Ngezi Platinum Stars in 2016 and Highlanders in 2019.

The winner of the Chibuku Super Cup gets $75 000 and qualifies to represent Zimbabwe in the Caf Confederation Cup as is the present case with Dynamos.
