All is set for the Castle Tankard horse race to be held at the Borrowdale Race Course in the capital Harare on May 6, 2023.
This year’s event will see renowned artists Alick Macheso share the stage with Enzo Ishall, supported on the decks by DJ Naida, Etherton B, DJ Andile Brown, DJ Rush and more.
The event is sponsored by Zimbabwe’s largest brewer, Delta Corporation.
In a statement, Delta said preparations for the event was at advanced stage.
“Castle Lager returns for the 63rd time to host this year’s edition of the Castle Tankard Horse Race together with long standing partners Mashonaland Turf Club, on Saturday 6 May 2023.
“The Castle Tankard has, and continues to be, the only Grade one horse racing event in the country. This makes it the most prestigious and sought-after title by horse owners, trainers and jockeys in Zimbabwe, while also commanding the interest and participation of the same, from across the region.
“With US$50,000 in stakes, the day will be packed with excitement as the finest horses jostle to win the ultimate trophy.”
Last year, the four-year-old True Beauty won the race.
