Africa urged to work on removing negative perceptions

A leading global life coach has urged African countries to market their tourism and kill a wrong perception about their countries.
Marsha Parcou said several people across the globe have a wrong perception about Africa and it was incumbent upon the countries to improve their marketing narrative.
“The saddest thing is when we talk about Africa, people don’t know much about Africa be it any country, it could be South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya. Most people will say, or even my in sessions, when I tell people I’m going to South Africa or I’m coming to Zimbabwe, the first thing they ask me is, is it safe there?” she said.
“They say they have heard a lot of crimes and therefore where can I go? So we have to try to change that perception, because at the end of the day, everywhere else in the world, whether Africa, Europe, everywhere, nowhere, nowhere else, nowhere is safe. But I believe that Africa must work together with other countries to promote what you have,” she said.
She was speaking in an interview with Business Times where she also said mental health awareness issues were critical among people.
