The African Development Bank (AfDB) will disburse US$3.5m to women and youths in Bulawayo in a bid to boost their businesses.

This was revealed by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Sekai Nzenza, who spoke at a youth business conference in Bulawayo.

The conference was organied by the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, in partnership with the AfDB.

The conference was held under the theme: “Revitalising and Empowering Youth Business Across Value Chain”.

“The future is in the hands of the youths. And we could see that the ideas can be translated into a business idea and that business idea is then transformed to be a product that can go into the market,” Nzenza said.

She added: “They need financial support. The AfDB  have promised to fund more to empower the youth and women.

“They are going to be giving US$3.5m and what I also encourage them to do is that we need a lot more training in how to manage small businesses.”
