The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair(ZITF) chairman, Busisa Moyo said the country’s premier trade show case is now overwhelmed by the large turnout of exhibitors to the extent that it is running out of exhibiting space.
This year’s edition, which ran from April 26, 2022 to April 30, 2022, saw a total of 14 countries being represented by 21 exhibitors in addition to more than 400 local exhibitors.
Addressing journalists in Bulawayo last week, Moyo said there was need to increase exhibiting space.
“With the Ministry of Industry and Commerce , we should work on increasing the exhibition space that we have available. Not just by size but also quality and what we are offering to the international community, which should be of international standards,” Moyo said.
He added: “After seeing the Dubai expo, the Africa free trade, we need to rise up, have a cutting edge in terms of what we offer. We had 542 exhibitors, 420 direct exhibitors and 162 indirect. And we are receiving a lot of reviews.
He said the participation in the show took up 44,760 square metres of exhibition space. This compares favourably with the closing totals of both the 2021 and 2019 shows.
Foreign participation was also up with 14 countries being represented by a total of 21 exhibitors, Moyo said.
