Zimbabwe Global Investment, Bitumen sign contract for civil works

Zimbabwe Global Investment today  signed an agreement with Bitumen World to start civil works at the Zim Cyber City  project  in Mount Hampden.

 

Bitumen will be developing  roads, storm water, sewer reticulation and part of the water body at the Cyber City, which is being built on a 50 hectares . Its likely to be a flagship project in the new city, where a modern Parliament has already been built.

 

The conglomerate Mulk International, based in the United Arab Emirates and owned by Mr. Shaji Mulk, is developing Cyber City, with an estimated construction cost of US$500m.

 

 

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Zimbabwe Global Investment CEO, Tendayi Hlupo-Mamvura said Bitumen World was the main contractor for the project.

 

“It is significant because the work that they are doing is the backbone of everything else that will be set up. We are doing this project correctly, taking the best that we know to be available in the country to work with so that we give  a guarantee of good workmanship and work that is done with integrity,” she said.

 

Chris Seager, Bitumen World operations manager weighed in saying: “Phase 1 has already commenced and should take four months to complete. Thereafter, we anticipate to take eight to 10 months to complete all the civil works on this Zim Cyber City project. We look forward to providing  our client with a top quality product.”

Additionally, Zimbabwe Global Investment and Geosurd Consult signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Environmental Impact Assessment.

Geosurd Consult will be responsible for the preparation,

submission, and follow-up to obtain EIA approval from the Environmental Management

Agency (EMA). Their work includes extensive field work, ecological surveys, socio-economic

assessments, and public consultations, ensuring that the project aligns with environmental

best practices.

 

This collaboration highlights ZIM CYBER CITY’s commitment to creating a smart, sustainable

urban future, leveraging the expertise of Bitumen World and the environmental stewardship

of Geosurd Consult. The project embodies a forward-thinking approach to urban

development, combining cutting-edge infrastructure with environmental consciousness.
