Zesa promises stable power supply over festive season

Power utility, ZESA Holdings, has assured the nation of a stable electricity supply during the festive season, raising expectations of minimal load-shedding as households and businesses prepare for the holidays.
In a statement, ZESA stakeholder relations general manager Dr George Manyaya attributed the improved outlook to increased domestic generation, additional power imports and reduced industrial demand during the holiday period.
“We project a stable power supply environment this December, with minimal system constraints and load management,” said Dr Manyaya.
“This positive outlook is largely due to anticipated improved plant availability at Hwange Power Station Stages 1 and 2 and Kariba Power Station, supported by supplies from Independent Power Producers.”
Dr Manyaya added that imports from the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP), coupled with the traditional slowdown in industrial activity during the festive season, would further ease pressure on the national grid.
“These efforts are expected to reduce the supply shortfall, leading to minimal load shedding during the festive period,” he said.
