Adelaide Chikunguru (pictured), the CEO of  the national broadcaster, Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), has been  suspended with immediate effect.
In a statement yesterday, the board said the reasons for her suspension have been confidentially  made known to her.
“The Board of Directors of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation has suspended the Corporation’s CEO, Ms Adelaide Chikunguru, with immediate effect.
The reasons for Ms. Chikunguru’s suspension have been confidentially made known to her but are not, however, being made public for the time being,” reads the statement.
The corporation’s finance director Assael Machakata has been appointed as the acting CEO for the duration of Chikunguru’s suspension.
Chikunguru’s suspension comes after the ZBC workers last week threatened to down tools accusing her and other executives of allegedly undermining decisions meant to improve their welfare.
