The governing party, Zanu PF, says it is geared for the 19th  National Annual People’s Conference set for Bindura, Mashonaland West Province, next week.

The party last year  postponed the conference due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The Zanu PF acting spokesperson, Mike Bimha (pictured) told Business Times on Tuesday this week that  the party was ready for the conference set for October 25 to 31 which will see some provincial  delegates  following proceedings virtually.

“The preparations for the event are 95% complete. Right now we are just fine-tuning one or two things but come the 27th we will be ready we are almost there.

“The main focus of the conference is on growing the economy and the country towards Vision 2030,” Bimha said.

He added that the main programme  is going to be attended by the politburo and some few members from the central committee while those from other provinces will join the main event virtually from venues designated in their areas.

“Therefore in line with the Covid- 19 protocols, there will definitely be no gatherings.”

Bimha said security aides, drivers, catering personnel, protocol officers and journalists covering the event also need proof of Covid-19 vaccination certificates to be allowed entry.

The conference will be held under the theme ‘’Growing in line with Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy 1”.

He said the event is expected to demonstrate the ability and capacity of the country to adapt and modernise and mechanise systems as they seek to create an upper middle-income society by 2030.

Vision 2030 seeks to create a prosperous and empowered upper-middle-income society with an average per capita income of US$3 200 by 2030.

Some of the key goals of Vision 2030 include achieving an employment rate of 80%, a reduction in the poverty rate to under 25% of the population, and a stable macroeconomic environment sustained by high productivity levels only to mention a few.
