WFDR champions women’s wellness with ‘Pink Olympic Experience’

WFDR Risk Services has unveiled the Pink Olympic Experience, a vibrant new initiative designed to raise awareness on breast cancer while celebrating women’s resilience, teamwork, and wellness.
Speaking at the launch, WFDR Managing Director Caroline Mbofana said the concept draws inspiration from the Olympic Games, reflecting values of teamwork, endurance, and shared strength — principles she believes are equally vital in confronting cancer.
“The Olympic experience is an idea that came to us this year, especially in support of breast cancer,” Mbofana said. “You know, breast cancer — or any cancer, for that matter — is a team sport. You cannot go at cancer on your own because it’s a financial condition, it’s a community condition, and it takes a lot of toll on people.”
To bring the Pink Olympic Experience to life, WFDR partnered with leading organizations in the health and wellness ecosystem, including Alliance Health, FBC Health, Fidelity Life Medical Aid Society (FLEMAS), Maisha Health, Population Services Zimbabwe, and Sweat Nation Fitness Studio.
Mbofana said these collaborations were carefully chosen to align with the organisation’s holistic approach to wellness and empowerment.
“The medical aids are crucial because they look after our patients through financing,” she explained. “Sweat Nation was symbolic for us — it’s a transformation centre run by women, where people work in teams and come out stronger. It fits perfectly with our theme, Strong Women, Strong Future, and our desire to partner with organizations that truly understand what we’re trying to achieve.”
Beyond awareness events, WFDR has deepened its commitment to wellness through its Healthcare Consulting Unit, established in 2023. The unit helps both individuals and corporations align their wellness goals with suitable medical aid schemes, addressing not just physical health, but also financial, spiritual, and intellectual well-being.
Looking ahead, Mbofana revealed that the Pink Olympic Experience will become an annual national campaign, expanding beyond Harare to Mutare, Bulawayo, and other cities. WFDR also plans to strengthen media partnerships to increase public engagement and information accessibility.
“Awareness is the beginning of change,” Mbofana said. “We want everyone to have access to information, and we’re working with organizations like the Cancer Association to make that possible.”
By blending the competitive spirit of the Olympics with the compassion of community health, WFDR aims to foster a culture of empowerment, resilience, and shared responsibility in the fight against breast cancer — one that champions women’s strength and the power of unity.
