ESIGODINI – Vice President Constantine Chiwenga has endorsed the leadership of President Emerson Mnangagwa saying that it’s fitting that he serves two terms as the president of the country and the leader of Zanu PF.

Chiwenga told Zanu PF delegates in Esigodini at the Zanu PF conference that many people were peddling falsehoods that Mnangagwa was being challenged for his leadership post in Zanu PF and government.

“For now until 2023 we have one leader…President Mnangagwa. Our constitution also states that the president can serve two terms if he wishes and we support him as  leader of the party and the country. People must not say what they do not know. We have one leader in the country and he is our presidential candidate again in 2023,” he said.

He also denounced   the opposition party, the MDC Alliance, for refusing to recognise Mnangagwa as President of the country.

“We have a problem with the MDC…. they are refusing to recognise the President. We saw what they did in Parliament but we thank the leader of government business in parliament and minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi for reducing them to their political position,” he said.

“He paid them with their same coin of not showing respect to the president,” he said.

MDC Alliance legislators have been protesting and demonstrating in   Parliament and refusing to recognise the President whenever he comes to Parliament for government business.
