Ajay Banga, United States’ nominee for President of the World Bank Group, will visit the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) offices Monday to learn about its priorities and concerns.
The visit to the AfDB offices comes barely a month after US President Joe Biden nominated the Indian-born American business executive to lead the World Bank.
It also comes after the ex-Mastercard CEO said last week that he would visit Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America to meet with donor countries and borrowers.
“Banga will meet with African Development Bank Group President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, members of the bank group’s senior management, and directors of the group’s board,” AfDB said in a statement.
World Bank Group president David Malpass recently announced his intention to step down by the end of June 2023.
