Stray donkeys invade Byo

Residents in Lobengula West, Bulawayo have said that stray donkeys have invaded the suburb in search of water and pastures amid claims the local authority has struggled to deal with the matter.

Lobengula West chairperson Musupi Dube said the donkeys enter into people’s households destroying their gardens.

“People are not happy because their crops have been destroyed. We have tried to talk to  Zimparks  but we didn’t get much help from them. We are trying to get the police to help us out, maybe this is the only way,” Dube said.

He said most of the residents have small pieces of land where they practice urban agriculture but donkeys from some peri-urban areas around the city are straying in the suburbs grazing on the crops.
