Stanbic Bank geared to drive Zim growth

Banking group, Stanbic Zimbabwe says it is seized with financing mega energy, infrastructure and agriculture projects that will drive economic growth.

 

Speaking at the CEO Africa Roundtable conference on Thursday in Victoria Falls, the lender’s CEO Solomon Nyanhongo said Stanbic has poured in millions of United States dollars in mega projects and has series of new financial targets that will drive growth of Zimbabwe’s economy.

 

“We are there to drive Zimbabwe’s economic growth. We are providing major financial support on the Beitbridge border post project, a game changing project.

We have also revolutionalised the agriculture sector. We have a significant presence in the sector providing more than US$300m on annually basis making tobacco projects bankable,” Nyanhongo said.

 

He added: “We also financing mega deals in the energy sector.We have financed Kariba power plant expansion (Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC)’s own contribution. We currently seized with financing Hwange Power Station expansion project.”
