Shake-Up at Turnall

BUSINESS REPORTER
Kenneth Schofield has been appointed the new board chairman of Turnall Holdings, the country’s leading roofing and building materials manufacturer, replacing Grenville Hampshire.
Business Times can report that Hampshire stepped down on March 2, under circumstances that remain unclear.
The latest development comes as Turnall has faced recurring challenges in retaining executives and directors in recent years.
“The board of directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kenneth Schofield as chairperson of the Turnall Board. Schofield has served as an independent non-executive director since June 2023,” said company secretary Lizzy Samunda.
Schofield brings 25 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, both regionally and in Zimbabwe. He has previously chaired the boards of Radar Holdings Limited, Border Timbers Limited, and GRUPO Madal S.A.R.L. In 2021, he joined the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA) board to help guide and develop both foreign and local investment, supporting the country’s economic reboot.
He is deeply focused on contributing to Zimbabwe’s economic recovery and the future growth of the nation’s business sector.
Samunda praised Hampshire’s tenure, saying: “Grenville’s strategic leadership and unwavering commitment contributed immensely to Turnall’s stabilisation and growth. He took over as chairperson when the company was making losses and successfully steered it back to profitability. The Board, Management, and staff of Turnall Holdings sincerely appreciate his dedicated service and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Hampshire brings extensive international experience, having led diverse materials and chemicals-based manufacturing operations across the United Kingdom, North America, Central America, and Southern Africa. With more than 30 years in the fibre cement industry, he has held roles ranging from hands-on production manager to technical director and CEO.
