The 2023 edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, the largest tourism and travel show in Zimbabwe, kicks off today and runs through to Saturday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds in Bulawayo with at least 365 companies having so far confirmed participation.
This number is higher than the 275 companies from the previous year.
Through exhibitions and high-profile engagements, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority-organized event seeks to highlight Zimbabwe’s distinctive position within the tourism landscape.
The celebration this year honors Zimbabwe-Africa’s tenacity, dynamism, and unrealized tourism potential. Africa is quickly becoming a top destination for tourists worldwide thanks to its wide variety of destinations, wildlife, heritage, culture, and adventure offerings.
The number of international exhibitors has increased from 23 last year to 34 this year, according to Barbra Rwodzi, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, who provided an update on the event’s preparations following Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.
She said the international exhibitors were from South Africa, Mozambique, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Iran and Botswana..
“There will also be 100 buyers from key source markets of Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe and America.
“Running alongside the exhibition will be forums and social events aimed at further affording exhibitors and buyers some more time to engage and share ideas,” Rwodzi said.
