Sandawana Mines, a subsidiary of Kuvimba Mining House (KMH), has invested half a million dollars in Community Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of local communities.
Sandawana Mines General Manager, Godwill Gambiza, said the organisation is deeply committed to CSR, with the community expressing gratitude for the company’s active participation in local development.
“By the year 2025, Sandawana Mines has spent 475 thousand on road repairs and upgrades, water provision through drilling boreholes, and renovation of a school block at Chebvute High School,” he said.
“Sandawana Mines remains committed to the virtues of good corporate citizenship and jealously guards its hard-earned social licence,” he added.
Key projects include road rehabilitation to enhance mobility and the renovation of the Chebvute High School block, which supported students during ZIMSEC examinations. In addition, the drilling of water boreholes addresses the longstanding challenge of access to potable water.
KMH Chief Executive Officer Trevor Barnard said the mining company strives to remain a responsive entity, always attentive to the needs of the communities in which it operates.
The two executives made the remarks at the KMH strategy launch held at Sandawana Mines in Mberengwa today.
