Renco Mine workers down tools

Renco Mine workers have vowed not to return to work until all outstanding salaries have been paid, as their strike has now lasted 11 days.

On October 9, 2024, the miners downed tools in protest of their unpaid salary, which they had not received since July.

Renco Mine is a subsidiary of RioZim Limited Group.

“We’ve had enough of empty promises. We can’t continue working without being paid for months on end,” one worker who  preferred anonymity told Business Times. “Management needs to resolve this once and for all.”

When contacted for a comment the mine’s general manager, Irvine Taurayi Nyamukondiwa referred all questions to the corporate communications department.

All efforts to get a comment from the corporate communications department were futile.
