Proplastics CEO Steps Down

Proplastics Limited, a publicly traded manufacturer of plastic pipes’ CEO, Kudakwashe Chigiya has stepped down, Business  Times can report.

The company expressed deep gratitude for Chigiya’s leadership and contributions, highlighting his instrumental role in shaping Proplastics into a formidable player in the competitive plastics manufacturing sector.

During his tenure, Chigiya spearheaded strategic initiatives that enhanced operational efficiency, strengthened the company’s market position, and cultivated a culture of innovation and accountability. The board commended his dedication, emphasizing that his departure comes at a time when the company is well-positioned for further growth and diversification.

To ensure a seamless transition, the board has appointed Paschal Changunda, the company’s Financial Director, as Acting CEO with immediate effect. His appointment complies with the regulatory requirements of the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) Listing Rules.

Changunda’s deep understanding of the company’s financial and operational framework makes him a natural fit to steer Proplastics during this interim period. The board expressed strong confidence in his ability to maintain stability and drive the company’s strategic objectives while a search for a permanent CEO is underway.

This leadership transition occurs against the backdrop of an evolving plastics manufacturing industry, which faces increasing regulatory scrutiny and a global shift towards sustainable production. Under Changunda’s leadership, Proplastics is expected to leverage its strengths while exploring innovative strategies to remain competitive in both domestic and international markets.

The board emphasized its commitment to transparency, regulatory compliance, and long-term strategic vision.

In the interim, (Paschal) Changunda, the current Financial Director, has assumed the role of Acting Chief Executive O­fficer,”Proplastics company secretary Angeline Mudada, said.
