As I reflect on my own experience as a quiz team member years ago, I am reminded of the dedication and determination it required.

Countless hours were spent poring over textbooks, studying facts and figures, and engaging in intense practice sessions.

But it was all worth it when we stood as a united force, ready to face any challenge that came our way.

The Old Mutual High School Quiz follows in the footsteps of those passionate quiz teams, carrying forward the tradition of intellectual pursuit.

By participating in this Afro-centric based quiz competition, students not only expand their knowledge but also develop critical thinking skills, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure.

In the memorable 2022 edition of the National High Schools Quiz, 126 schools participated, each vying for the chance to become the number one grandmaster.

Among them, ten schools emerged as provincial winners, representing their respective regions with pride and determination.

The anticipation was palpable as the finals approached, and Marist Brothers and Zengeza High 1 prepared to face off in an epic battle of intellects.

The national finals took place in the vibrant capital city of Harare, spanning two exhilarating days.

The event went beyond the confines of the quiz, immersing the participants in a holistic learning experience.

Through the ‘On The Money’ program, Old Mutual provided in-depth lessons on financial education, equipping the students with skills essential for their future success.

Motivational talks from Old Mutual’s leadership inspired young minds to dream big and strive for greatness.

A tour of the Mutual Garden Solar Farm showcased sustainable energy practices, while a trip to the Museum of African Liberation sparked a deep appreciation for our continent’s rich history and was a powerful reminder that these young participants have the ability to shape our collective future and create a world that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.
