After months of rigorous academic battles across zonal and provincial rounds, the much-anticipated finals of the Old Mutual High School Quiz have officially begun.

Finalist teams from across Zimbabwe arrived in Harare yesterday, where they are now immersed in two days of activities culminating in the national championship at The Heritage Village.

Today marks the formal opening of the finals programme, with students participating in a full-day conference focused on personal development, leadership, and experiential learning beyond the classroom. The curated workshop is designed to complement the quiz experience and reinforces Old Mutual Zimbabwe’s continued dedication to nurturing well-rounded, future-ready learners.

The day’s programme includes financial literacy training through Old Mutual’s acclaimed “On the Money” programme, career guidance and motivational talks delivered by Old Mutual professionals, and youth confidence coaching led by the renowned Coach Taf. An educational tour of Liberation City is also on the agenda, offering students a chance to explore the country’s liberation heritage as part of a holistic educational journey.

This year’s edition of the quiz has been one of the most fiercely contested, drawing participation from both urban and rural schools. The selection process tested students on academic knowledge, critical thinking, and collaboration, and only the top 30 schools have advanced to the final stage.

The finalists competing for national honours are: Zengeza 1, Mufakose 1, St John’s Emerald, Northlea, St Columbus, Kwenda, Fletcher, Anderson, Chaplin, St Mary’s Beitbridge, Mtsabezi, Sacred Heart, St Anthony, Pamushana, Masvingo Christian College, Nyanga High Marist Brothers, Emmanuel, Hartzel, Chipindura, St Alberts, Bradley, Goromonzi, Wise Owl, Rusununguko, Kariyangwe, Fatima, Lulu Adventist, Sandringham, Moleli, and Nemakonde.

For over a decade, Old Mutual Zimbabwe has proudly sponsored the High School Quiz as part of its education pillar under its Responsible Business strategy.
