Nedbank has partnered with the Dzikwa Trust in a strategic initiative aimed at empowering orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) while strengthening sustainable environmental practices, a collaboration the bank describes as a long-term investment in community resilience.
Senior Brand and Marketing Manager Jelo Gombera said the partnership represents far more than routine corporate social responsibility, emphasising its long-term developmental impact.
“Our partnership this year goes beyond tree planting. It is about creating a legacy of hope and resilience. Through our generous donation, we are addressing four key pillars — Education and Well-Being, supporting the holistic development of OVCs, ensuring access to education and care; Environmental Sustainability through providing post-planting care to guarantee that every tree thrives; planting of 100 seedlings from diverse varieties, reinforcing biodiversity and sustainability; and through Arts and Culture celebrating creativity and cultural heritage, an integral part of every child’s growth,” Gombera said.
Dzikwa Trust’s mission is centred on providing education, nutrition, health care and cultural development support to OVCs, ensuring that children not only survive but thrive and are empowered to contribute meaningfully to society.
“This aligns perfectly with Nedbank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which focus on community development, education, and environmental sustainability,” Gombera added.
Nedbank, which positions itself as a “green bank,” said its approach ensures that financial expertise is matched with strong social and environmental stewardship.
Through its partnership with the Dzikwa Trust, the bank has undertaken a tree-planting initiative designed to nurture not only forests but also hope, sustainability and long-term opportunities for future generations.
