National Foods Limited dominated at the recently held ZimAwards ceremony in Harare where four of their brands topped in different categories.

The awards come days after the successful commissioning of the Pasta, Biscuit and Cereal factories and plants by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Four of the awards were for the leading mealie meal brands award, leading Fast Moving Consumer Goods award, leading snacks award, leading baking products award among others.

National Foods Limited Group Chief Executive Officer, Mike Lashbrook, said they were humbled by the awards that came from the consumers.

“The customer has spoken and we are really humbled by the confidence they have in our products. These awards came directly from the customer and consumer research so as National Foods, we are honoured,” Lashbrook said.

Meanwhile, in a speech during the official opening of the plants, Lashbrook said the company’s capital investment over the last 5 years will reach $50 million.

He thanked President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration for policies conducive for business.

“Firstly, your Excellency, it was our confidence in the policies of your

Government and our belief that the economic environment would be

one in which these investments would be a success. At this juncture I

would like to recognise the support we receive from our parent

Ministry, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and to appreciate

and acknowledge the efforts of the Honourable Minister (Mangaliso Ndlovu) and his team in supporting our ambitions and efforts.

“Secondly in assessing these investments it became clear to us that

local grain production was increasing at a very encouraging rate, and

that our country was set on a path to become a net exporter of

cereals.”
