Students from several primary schools are set to benefit from the JMShortCat Foundation’s programme that seeks to scout talent facross the country.
The foundation was established with an aim to assist and empower identified individuals, schools and communities with sporting talents to help them work towards their dreams.
Recently with the support of Dairibord Zimbabwe and Kwese among other organisations, they managed to host a sports tournament where they donated several sporting accessories to schools and individuals.
Top sports personalities have been gracing some of these tourneys and in Mbare last week former players George Shaya, David George, David Mandigora, Stanley Chirambadare, Edward Sadomba, Stewart Murisa, Oscar Machapa, Henry Chari, Kelvin Mashingaidze and Elliot Matsika among others were who were in attendance.
Director of the foundation Japhet Mparutsa is optimistic that in the next five years they will be able to reach several parts of the country.
Spokesperson of the foundation Joseph Munyebvu said their main aim was to promote talents at young age.
“We want to catch them young because we believe if we manage to promote them at young age they can develop,” he said.
Munyebvu said he will make sure that several schools across the country have benefited from the foundation’s vision.
“There are stars in schools and they need motivation. That is why we are trying to use the few resources we have,” he said.
Representatives from Dairibord Zimbabwe said they were happy to be part of such initiative as it seeks to promote the growth of local sports talent.
Sadomba hailed Mparutsa for being a man who is instrumental to the development of sport in the country.
“We call upon relevant authorities to support such initiatives so that the young ones feel and know the value of sports in the country,” he said.
