Massive Shake-Up at EcoCash Holdings as Nyambirai Takes Helm

Staff Writer
EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe Limited (EHZL) has undergone a sweeping leadership overhaul, with Tawanda Nyambirai appointed as Group CEO following Eddie Chibi’s resignation. The restructuring sees eight directors, including board chair Sherree Gladys Shereni and key executive Darlington Mandivenga, stepping down.
Nyambirai, a seasoned Econet associate and former Steward Bank owner, assumes control amid the transition, with 10 new directors appointed to steer the company forward. The board reshuffle signals a strategic pivot for EHZL, which has played a dominant role in Zimbabwe’s digital payments ecosystem.
The shake-up raises questions about the company’s future direction under Nyambirai’s leadership, given his deep ties to Econet’s founder, Strive Masiyiwa. Investors will be closely watching how this leadership reset impacts EcoCash’s operations and market positioning.
