Masiyiwa Honoured at ICT Excellence Awards

Prominent entrepreneur and founder of the Econet Group, Strive Masiyiwa, was honoured at the Zimbabwe ICT Excellence Awards on Thursday, held at Rainbow Towers Hotel, in recognition of his significant contributions to innovation and technology.
The event marked a historic moment for Zimbabwe’s tech sector, as it had been on hiatus for a decade.
The awards, organised by the ICT Ministry in partnership with Business Times, a market leader in business, financial and economic reportage, celebrated excellence across several categories, including Best Journalist of the Year, Best Social Media Influencer, and Best ICT Industry Disruptor, among others.
In her speech, ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera emphasized the importance of the 2024 ICT Excellence Awards, highlighting their role in recognizing outstanding achievements in technology.
“The decade-long gap in honouring our telecommunications sector heroes and heroines ends tonight,” Mavetera said.
“These awards acknowledge those who demonstrate exceptional performance and innovation in ICT, fostering a culture of excellence essential for both the public and private sectors.”
