Mash West Tobacco Expo set for April

The inaugural Mashonaland Tobacco Expo set to run from April 8 to 9 in Karoi is meant to bring together all players in the golden leaf sector .
The Expo will run under the theme, Promoting Sustainable Tobacco Farming and Growing of Alternative Crops.
The major sponsors for the expo will be the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), Agriseeds, CP Chemicals and Boka Tobacco Auction Floors.
Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement minister Anxious Jongwe Masuka will be the guest of honour.
According to Brian Vengayi General Manager of the Mashonaland West Agricultural Show Society, all stages of the tobacco production will be showcased.
“The Mashonaland Tobacco Expo not only aims to target tobacco farmers but other agricultural companies as one of the aims of the event is to factor in the growing of alternative crops,” he said.
Vengayi said companies that have confirmed participation are TIMB, Boka, Syngenta Zimbabwe, FBC Bank Limited and AFC.
The National Social Security Authority, the Environmental Agency of Zimbabwe and the Department of Irrigation will attend the Expo.
