Kuvimba Mining House has vowed to construct key roads in Sandawana, Mberengwa  district in the Midlands Province as well as construct clinics, provide medical doctors and other facilities as part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the community.

Simbarashe Chinyemba, the company CEO, told a consultative indaba with traditional leaders in Zvishavane yesterday that the company was keen to promote the community adding employment will also be created for locals.

Kuvimba Mining House runs Sandawana Mines that is operating in Mberengwa district.

“We are  not promising but it is something that we are doing and that is employing locals,” Chinyemba said.

“We are employing people from the community and what we have to do is encourage our children to study engineering and other mining related programmes. We have that ED-UNZA program where we have five students benefitting and we are promising to have five more sponsored specifically by Sandawana Mines,” he said.

Kuvimba Mining House is sponsoring five students at the University of Zimbabwe under the ED-UNZA program and has promised to employ them upon completion of their programme.

Chinyemba said as respect to the traditional leaders, the company will also construct courtyards for all traditional leaders in the district.

He said the firm will also provide a community ambulance and a doctor for the locals while also urging people to have a business mind to provide basics instead of buying from nearby town centres.

“We want to source all our produce from locals. It doesn’t make sense that we get things from outside the community we are operating from. We want to develop the people,” he said.

So far, a 13 kilometre road has been constructed for the community with the company promising to do more.
