Popular Congolese rhumba artiste, Koffi Olomide, is expected to lead an array of artists at The Odyssey musical festival set for Saturday in the city of Kadoma.

Contemporary musician and Zimbabwe’s most sought-after musician Jah Prayzah, South African pop duo, Mafikizolo and Sulumani Chimbetu are also expected to perform at the concert dubbed African Explosion. Dancehall singer Enzo Ishal is also expected to thrill the fans at the concert.

Odyssey Entertainment is promoting the show.

Organiser of the show Prince Mharadze told Business Times that preparations for the concept were at an advanced stage.

“Preparations have been going on very well and it’s all systems go as we wait for revellers from across the country to throng Kadoma for this show,” said Mharadze.

He added: “Some revellers are already in Kadoma and have secured their accommodation.”

Mharadze said the show will bring in diversity as those that love the rhumba genre will get to gyrate the night away to some ndombolo sounds while those who love afro pop will be entertained by Mafikizolo and Jah Prayzah.

Rhumba has a huge following and is still very popular in Zimbabwe, Koffi and his entourage of dancers is expected to thrill fans with their well-choreographed dances from songs such as Papa Ngwasuma, Selfie and Papa Mobimba.

Jah Prayzah and Mafikizolo are expected to perform their hit songs Sendekera and Mazuva Akanaka. Both songs have been well received in Zimbabwe and across the Limpopo.

The Mafikizolo duo of Nhlanhla Mafu and Theo Kgosinkwe never disappoints each time they go on stage and the last time they performed at The Odyssey they left fans yearning for more.
