Kasukuwere facing four counts of criminal abuse of office

HARARE – Former Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere is expected to appear in court tomorrow following his arrest this morning.
Allegations laid against Kasukuwere, who turned 48 yesterday, include four counts of criminal abuse of office committed when he was still Minister of Local Government and Public Works and ministry of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment.
He is  being accused of awarding Junior Shuvai Gumbochuma vast lands in a botched deal that defrauded the State.
The ex-ZANU PF political commissar returned home on Sunday night from South African before handing himself to detectives at CID headquarters.
His lawyer Jonathan Samkange confirmed his client had spent the better part of the day assisting police with investigations.
He is being held at Rhodesville Police Station.
Close sources say the health of his mother influenced Kasukuwere’s return as she is said to be gravely ill.
