ICT Ministry, Business Times to honour ICT trailblazers today

The Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, in partnership with Business Times, the country’s market leader in business, finance and economic reportage, will today honour Zimbabwe’s most innovative minds in the technology sector, spotlighting trailblazers whose work continues to redefine the nation’s digital future.
Running under the theme “Innovate, Celebrate, Elevate,” the awards ceremony aims to highlight the tangible contributions of the ICT community and reinforce the sector’s growing influence in national development.
AB Communications’ Business Development Executive, Caroline Konje, said: “The Zimbabwe ICT Excellence Awards serve to recognize and celebrate exceptional contributions within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Sector.” She added that the event remains firmly rooted in the national policy’s “commitment to fostering innovation and excellence.”
Konje said the awards stand out in Zimbabwe’s awards landscape because they resonate closely with the national development agenda. “While many industry awards exist, these are distinguished by their direct linkage to national policy objectives, suggesting a government desire to align private sector innovation with public sector goals. The awards come at a time when Zimbabwe, like many nations, is increasingly reliant on digital infrastructure and services for economic development,” she said.
This year’s edition expands the recognition categories, celebrating achievements across the spectrum from groundbreaking startups and emerging innovators to established tech giants and influential individual pioneers.
Today’s event will also offer a crucial networking platform for industry leaders, senior government officials, and international partners. Organisers hope the interactions will strengthen collaboration aimed at resolving persistent sector challenges, including connectivity gaps, digital inclusion barriers, and limited access to funding.
