SAMUEL NJINGA IN MASVINGO
Hevoi FM, the fast-rising provincial radio station, was among the standout winners at the just-ended Masvingo Provincial Agricultural Show, cementing its role as a critical voice in amplifying local businesses and development initiatives.
The four-day showcase, which ran from September 25 to 28 under the theme “Promoting Development for Economic Growth,” drew 98 exhibitors across 22 categories.
Hevoi FM, a subsidiary of AB Communications, walked away with the second runner-up award in the Media and Information Category, a recognition that organisers and stakeholders said reflected the station’s growing influence in driving economic and social conversations in the province.
The National AIDS Council (NAC) and Hardware Express also grabbed top honours, emerging first in the Health and Social Services and Industrial Small categories, respectively. NAC said its award marked a milestone in its 25-year HIV and AIDS awareness journey, while Hardware Express credited its success to loyal customers and the visibility it has gained through local media platforms, including Hevoi FM.
“This is a crucial accolade. We don’t take it for granted. We have been conscientising communities on HIV and AIDS for the past 25 years, and this recognition shows that our work is making an impact,” said NAC acting provincial manager Munyengetero Masunga.
Hardware Express director Ellen Gozo said: “We are humbled. We thank our valued clients for standing with us in the execution of our business. We also appreciate all the various stakeholders who have always stood with us. This accolade is a landmark for us and will fuel our growth.”
Other winners included Eben Hardware, which came first runner-up in the Industrial Small Category. Director Benonia Machauda applauded the organisers for creating a platform that promotes local enterprises and encourages healthy competition.
“The show has given us the opportunity to showcase our products and services while networking with other players in the industry. The recognition inspires us to improve and serve our community better,” Machauda said.
