Gwata new Fidelity Life board chairman

Fidelity Life Assurance Company of Zimbabwe has appointed banker Livingstone Gwata as its new non-executive board chairman and two other directors as the financial Services group buttresses its board.

The appointments are with effect from February 1.

He took over from Fungayi Ruwende who has been chairman since 2016 and has retired from the board.

A seasoned banker, Gata worked in the banking sector for 37 years and was group CEO of FBC Holdings for 13 years.

He has held directorships and leadership positions in several Zimbabwean and multinational companies, including founder Chairman of the Rainbow Tourism Group Limited, president of the Institute of Bankers of Zimbabwe, Chairman of the University of Zimbabwe Council and Vice Chairman of MasterCard International Limited, Middle East and Africa, Fidelity Life said.

The banker is currently non-executive Chairman of ABC Holdings Limited, parent company of BancABC banking franchises in Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe ( part of Atlas Mara) and Chairman of the Zimbabwe Open Golf Committee.

The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed company has also appointed Takudzwa Chitsike and Langton Mabhanga as non-executive directors with effect from February 1.

Chitsike is a legal professional with 15 years of corporate experience.

An electrical engineer, Mabhanga has a passion for business strategy, corporate governance and business and economic intelligence.
