First Mutual Holdings Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming lives through education by celebrating a new cohort of scholarship beneficiaries transitioning to tertiary education.

Since 2014, the First Mutual Foundation, administered by Bantwana Zimbabwe, has provided financial and material support to vulnerable students, ensuring their successful progression from primary to secondary school and now, for many, to university.

The First Mutual Holdings Scholarship Fund covers essential education costs, including tuition, examination fees, uniforms, and stationery for school learners.

For university students, the support extends to tuition, accommodation, food, and upkeep.

Over the years, this initiative has significantly improved school attendance, retention, and transition rates, with several beneficiaries excelling in competitive fields such as Actuarial Science, Data Science, and Computer Engineering. Many have secured internships and attachments, setting them on a strong career trajectory.

At a recent send-off ceremony, First Mutual Holdings celebrated 15 new tertiary scholarship recipients for the 2025 academic year. These students, enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Midlands State University (MSU), and Bindura University of Science Education, now join a growing network of scholars supported by the fund.

Among them are five students who have been beneficiaries since primary school, successfully progressing through the scholarship program to now pursue university education—an inspiring milestone that underscores the long-term impact of First Mutual’s investment in education.

Speaking at the send off ceremony, ceremony, First Mutual Holdings Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Douglas Hoto, emphasized the company’s dedication to empowering young minds through education:

“At First Mutual, we see education as a powerful tool for change—not just in your personal growth, but in the transformation of our communities and nation. This scholarship is more than financial assistance, it is an investment in your future, and we expect you to pursue excellence, integrity, and leadership in all that you do.”

He further encouraged the students to maximize this opportunity:

“We are proud to be part of your success story. We believe in your potential to become future leaders, innovators, and changemakers. Make the most of this scholarship, excel in your studies, and carry forward the spirit of excellence that defines this program. Dream big, work hard, and stay focused—your future is bright.”
