Fairmile Hotel donated an assortment of goods to Gweru Provincial Hospital maternity ward on Mother’s Day as part of hospitality concern’s social corporate responsibility programme.

The donation included 50 bed sheets, pillow cases and sanitary pads.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Regency Hotels and Leisure Group head of marketing and sales, Wendy Ngirazi said mothers should always be valued.

“We will try to make sure that all women are empowered without limit. The value of a wife and a mother cannot be explained or imagined in mere senses. Mothers are the first ones to touch one in arms, shielding all sorts of harm. As such we can only wish that the respect channeled towards mothers only quadruples hence forth. We are delighted to extend our never ending rhythm of gratitude and appreciation to our mothers by handing over these gifts,” Ngirazi said.

Gweru Provincial Hospital senior matron, Charity Doko, in her acceptance speech expressed gratitude and said that such love must continue to exist.

“On behalf of Gweru Provincial Hospital executives, we cannot hide our smiles. Thank you so much Fairmile. We are happy that you have recognized and honored us as mothers. You have done us proud.”

She also took time to share how new and clean linen is an advantage to patients.

“When one is not well and given clean linen, there is a psychological aspect that helps to drive the pain away. I am sure that even our mothers in the post  natal ward after clean linen is put, the pain will also go away.   Don’t do it once, but continue doing good to the mothers. ”

One of the patients, only identified as Mai Shannel in the post-natal ward also applauded the team for the donations

“We thank you Fairmile for extending your hand to us, these days things are so hard that some cannot afford a pack of sanitary wear,” she said.

The Fairmile Hotel delegation was led by the general manager, Elphas Munyimi.
