The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has urged consumers to pay their bills for water used to enable the water parastatals to continue providing the service.

ZINWA’s communications and marketing officer for Runde catchment area, William Mugadziwa told Business Times that clients’ failure to pay for the water was a major challenge confronting the parastatals.

“This is a very disturbing situation on our part and it’s a major drawback. In this dry season our water demand is very high. We encourage our water users to use water sparingly as well as encourage them to pay their water bills as it helps in the maintenance and the conveyance of the same resource to our clients,” Mugadziwa said.

He also revealed that as at mid October Tugwi Mukosi Dam level statistics stood at 94% while that of Mutirikwi Dam  was 95%.

Muzhwi Dam, Manjirenje and Mushandike Dam were at 97%, 63% and 57% respectively.

Manyuchi Dam was at 88%.

Lake Mutirikwi was 94.31% full.

Apart from Masvingo City Council, its water is also utilised by Triangle and Hippo Valley Estates for the purpose of irrigation.
