…as team AB scores big

Media conglomerate, AB Communications, that runs independent commercial radio station, ZiFM Stereo, 98.4 FM (Midlands), Hevoi FM (Masvingo) and Business Times, a business and financial newspaper, enjoyed a winning week where the company saw its Managing Director Vongai Muzenda scooping a prestigious award while five of its team players were recognised among Zimbabwe’s most influential young people.

 

This also comes as the Group Deputy Editor-in-Chief, who is also the Editor of Business Times Phillimon Mhlanga recently scooped the Life Assurance Journalist of the Year  Award at the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC)- National Social Security (NSSA) Annual Awards held in Harare.

Muzenda’s win was to be the beginning of more winning for the team after five of team players were recognised among the most influential young Zimbabweans.

 

Last week, Muzenda got an honorary award as a Mover and Shaker in Marketing at a colourful 2023 National Exceptional Marketing Awards Dinner.

 

Muzenda, a distinguished marketer and trained journalist, described the award as humbling.

Programming Manager Mona-Lisa Dube, Senior News anchor Martha Mamombe, decorated presenters MisRed and Chamvary were named as part of the most influential young Zimbabweans, a list that had celebrated young successful Zimbabweans including ministers, business tycoons, celebrities among others.

Others  on the colorful list announced by Solitaire Communications include Information Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere, ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera, Finance Deputy Minister David Kuda Mnangagwa, ZINARA board chairman and ZESA General Manager Dr George Manyaya, Zimbuild founder Dr Tinashe Manzungu among others.

 

Mona Lisa has distinguished herself well becoming a force to reckon with in the media industry where she is now the Programming Manager for ZiFM stereo while Martha is a senior journalist and popular news anchor with the station.

Both have over 10 years’ experience in the media industry.

MisRed, a popular figure in her own right, hosts The Rush, one of the most followed drive-time shows in the country.

Chamvary, a veteran broadcaster, hosts the much-liked and followed Big Show daily on the station.

Reverb7 is Zimbabwe’s leading authority on afrobeats and afro house.

The DJ/producer hosts a weekly show, every Saturday on ZiFM Stereo, 6 – 9pm, called Africa Bounce. Reverb7 is also a frequent name on the biggest stages in the country.

Last week, Hevoi FM scooped second prize as the best news media house at the Masvingo Provincial Agricultural Show Society.

 

The station won against several media houses in the province.
